Indian Word That Means Horsepower      (added September 2011)

(From: The Waukesha Motor News bulletin of March 1938)

A visitor was on a train from New York to Chicago on his way to the Waukesha Motor Co. and started up a conversation with one of his fellow passengers. And, as is generally the case, they got around to asking each other where they were going. The man who was headed for the Waukesha Motor Co. mentioned that he was on the way to a little town in Wisconsin called Waukesha, and added that he didn't suppose his fellow passenger had ever heard of it. The fellow passenger replied; "Certainly, I've heard of it. Waukesha is the Indian word that means horsepower!"
